YEAR 7
ART & DESIGN
Students explore, respond and create artworks through drawing, painting, printmaking and 3D studies. They experiment with different mediums and respond to a range of subject matter including portrait drawing, landscape painting and imaginative approaches. They build their skills and knowledge and most importantly have fun.
LANDSCAPE PAINTINGS
Students learn about composition, depth, space and perspective. They build their skills in colour mixing and apply this through painting techniques.
EPHEMERAL ART
Students learnt about art that responds to the environment and uses natural objects that are arranged to create patterns or sculptures. Students were encouraged to be resourceful and use materials they found at home to create their artistic responses.
'Home is where the art is'
Students came up with some imaginative responses to this theme. It was a chance for students to reflect on their ideas and experiences during remote learning and convey their personal responses through their art.
Self-portrait inspired by Arcimboldo
Students looked at the portraits painted by artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo who constructed his subjects out of fruit or other objects. Using fruit, vegetables or other objects at home students created their own portrait assemblage.
Self-portrait inspired by PICASSO
Students created these colourful, abstract self portraits after looking at Picasso’s cubist artworks. They identified colour, shape, pattern and symbols were important to include in their own self portrait. Many of the objects they chose to include symbolise their personal likes, interests and experiences.
