ARTIST WORKSHOPs

Ceramic Jewellery Making Workshops

Ceramic jewellery making workshops facilitated by local ceramic artist Emma Amos were organised for staff and students. The student workshop was an enrichment opportunity aimed at year 9 and 10 students who have been recommended for participation by their teachers because of their engagement and achievements in the visual arts.

Participants learnt the process of creating jewellery from clay. Impressions were added to the clay using natural objects, stamps and textural surfaces. Following a bisque firing, the ceramic pieces were decorated with oxides and glazes.

After the glaze firing the ceramic pieces were threaded or assembled into jewellery using leather thonging, beads or jewellery findings such as brooch backs, earrings or ring bases.

Eltham H.S. staff also participated in workshops after school as an opportunity to learning something new and promote wellbeing.
